Statement on Sufficiency of Scripture
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments alone are the God-breathed, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, the full and final authority in all matters they address, and fully sufficient for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in right living.
All students, interns, counseling staff, and teaching staff of the Truth in Love Biblical Counseling & Training Center, must use the Scriptures in counseling and discipling as the final, authoritative, and sufficient source for counseling and discipling content. Our primary tool for biblical counseling and discipleship is properly interpreted Scripture properly applied in partnership with the Holy Spirit, the Divine Author of Scripture.
Secular and other sources that are inconsistent with the Scriptures are insufficient and ineffective for counseling and discipleship and are avoided. Any resource used in counseling that is not consistent with this statement must have prior approval by the Director.
We use biblical categories and biblical solutions for the problems people face, the troubles they have, the residual effects of the sins they have committed, and the evils they have suffered.
(Psalm 19:7–9; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:3-4)
