2021 RECONFIGURATION
This past summer brought us an opportunity to infuse our training program with some key improvements, and we are excited to share the results with you. We also want to extend an invitation to you to take advantage of some of the changes of our reconfiguration.
The result is an even more comprehensive program than before, and one that makes it easier for even more folks to become better equipped, qualified, and affirmed for ministering God’s Word to others and not to feel overwhelmed in the process.
The first thing we did was expand the program from two training tracks to four. We also expanded from two training levels to three.
The four training tracks are:
As you can see, we have added a training track between the Diploma track and the Certification track: the “Commissioned Biblical Counselor” track. Now, instead of the two exams and minimum fifty hours of counseling supervision required for certification, this new track has one exam and an interview with a 3-person Commissioning Panel.
This track includes the same level of training as the other two tracks. It provides an in-between way for us to affirm that a person is equipped and qualified to disciple and provide soul-care to others, just not to the level of someone who has pursued certification.
This also creates a way for folks whom God has been using for many years to be fine-tuned and affirmed in that ministry. We believe it is too easy for qualified people to fall through the cracks.
We have also revamped the range of courses we offer to make Level I and Level II more accessible to more people. This will help us cover additional vital areas of study that better prepare disciplers and soul-care providers for ministering God’s Word to others in the times we live.
In addition to these changes, we moved two of our Level II modules into our newly created the “Level III Counseling Specialization” track. In addition, we added two other Level III modules to this track. All four Level III modules are robustly thorough, and we are encouraged to already see interest in the biblical counseling community among experienced biblical counselors.
With this, we have also begun investing in developing folks to be equipped and certified to teach and train others with our materials. We already have a few people from our program involved in that process, and it is a joy to work with each of them If you are interested in that training, please let us know.
Here is the invitation I mentioned at the beginning of this letter: If you are a graduate of or are currently enrolled in the certification track of our program, have not yet pursued or are uncertain that you will pursue completing the certification process, or you have decided that full certification is not for you, we are inviting you to transfer over to the Commissioned Biblical Counselor Program.
If you are interested, simply send us an email and tell us you would like to transfer programs. There is no need to complete the online application or registration since you have already been accepted into our program, and some of you have completed all the required coursework.
For graduates who transfer, the next step will be for you to complete the open-book exam. Once that is passed, we will schedule your interview with the Commissioning Panel. This panel is comprised of three people, at least two of which are experienced biblical counselors who have demonstrated wisdom, grace, and discernment in their own discipling of others.
If you have questions or would like to discuss this before you decide, please connect with me directly. I will get you on my calendar as soon as I can.
We are excited about what God has been doing at Truth in Love, and we are delighted that each one of you is part of it.
Blessings to you all!
